Us Rhinos’ are chuffed to share another amazing project project we’ve worked on with local legend Mark Grist. This time, we had the opportunity to bring Mark’s poetry to life with bright and vibrant animation overlays corresponding to lines from his poem.
About Mark
An ex-teacher, poet and rapper based in Peterborough (like us!). Mark has won various slams, titles and awards for hs work, which has gained him over 40m views online for his poetry and rap. A lot of Mark’s work is aimed at teenagers, young adults, fellow teachers and children. We’ve had the privilege of working across several projects with Mark, such as this really fun rap animation and this animated poem.
The Animation
This project brought new and exciting challenges in the form of resolving green screen issues. This was something we hadn’t worked with too much up until this point. It was good to learn something new. This gave us the experience to tackle this sort of project again, with the new skills necessary in our skillset toolbelt. We got to mix live action footage with animated elements to make this engaging end product for primary school children to watch and learn from. We created this primarily in Adobe After Effects with some graphical elements designed in Photoshop. The creative freedom Mark gave us to visually interepret his words in fun, creative and engaging ways was the highlight.
Extra elements
We got to create these activity sheets for primary schools and educators to follow along after watching the video.
