We had the exciting opportunity to play with typography for a TV advert for Premier League Productions. This project allowed us to set type on fire, play with magnets and make a mess with iron fillings.
In the below photographs you’ll see two distinct styles of type we created. The first was made by hand carving letters from firelighter blocks, which we then adhered to a backing board before taking matches to them whilst the burning process was expertly filmed.
The second experimentation with type is the result of cutting letters from magnetic sheeting, hiding this underneath a piece of thick paper before dropping iron fillings from a height. The result of this was catching the fillings falling into place, forming letters thanks to the attraction to the hidden magnets.
