Centre for Public Impact (CPI) – Explainer Video

Bringing Policy to Life: Creating a 60-Second Explainer for the Centre for Public Impact

When the Centre for Public Impact (CPI) approached us with a clear script in hand, they had a powerful idea: to distill the essentials of effective policy-making into just 60 seconds. Our task? To bring that idea to life visually—from initial concept through to final animation.

From Script to Screen

CPI came to us with a compelling narrative for their Starter Kit for Effective Policy-Making. Our role was to interpret that script, develop a visual language, and craft a storyboard that would clearly and engagingly communicate the message.

We designed the concept in a whiteboard animation explainer video style, known for its simplicity and clarity. The process started with developing a detailed storyboard that mapped out each moment in the video. From there, we sketched characters and scenes that would form the visual blueprint for the animation.

The video introduces CPI’s three core pillars of impactful policy:

  1. Legitimacy – Built on public trust, stakeholder engagement, and political commitment.
  2. Policy – Defined by clear goals, strong evidence, and practical feasibility.
  3. Action – Delivered through management, measurement, and alignment.

Each concept is illustrated with simple, memorable visuals—from shaking hands and arrows hitting targets, to teams working together.

The video closes with the complete Starter Kit diagram and a call to learn more on CPI’s website.

The Outcome

In just 60 seconds, the video communicates CPI’s vision for better policymaking in a clear, engaging way. The response was so positive that we were commissioned to create two additional videos for the wider project.
