Inspire Libraries Artist in Residence

As artists in residence for Inspire Libraries Summer Reading Challenge, Paper Rhino’s Amanda Rigby and poet Mark Grist helped thousands of pupils and their families to externalise their emotions through character creation and expressive writing. Children explored mark-making techniques to design emotional ‘monsters,’ while poems used metaphor and imagination to bring feelings to life.

The resulting artwork and poetry were exhibited at Inspire Libraries across Nottinghamshire so the children could bring their families to see the work and get involved. As part of the exhibition, Amanda guided visiting families in drawing their own emotional monsters using colour and texture, while Mark shared his picture books and led playful rhyming games.
