Jason has been out painting once again and progressing rather nicely with his character piece of George Alcock. Look at that star map!

Underpass project – GBY Monster
Jason has been out painting again! This time with a slightly more abstract concept, something we’ve been calling the “GBY Monster”.
We wanted to give appreciation to grassroots projects in the city, projects that have little or no help from funding or external bodies but ones that have been done just for the sheer passion of it all. We’ve used the incredible The Green Backyard as inspiration for this but it’s also a nod towards many other projects like The Glass Onion, The Muddy Collective and Positive Outlook Records to name but a few.
We’ve dubbed the people around the monster “Dozers” & “Anti-Dozers”, a bit of a Fraggle Rock reference there! 🙂 The Dozers represent the tireless volunteers and workers of Peterborough that have helped build and shape the city into what it has become today and given it a rich, sometimes untold history to be proud of. The Anti-Dozers represent those that have sometimes stood in the way of progression or have held back cultural development.
RHS Hampton Court Flower show
Paper Rhino are all over RHS – Royal Horticultural Society Hampton Court Flower show this year! Not only have we be involved in some promotion materials but Jay will be working from the press tent on site at the show next week. Most importantly Amanda made this beautiful flyer commissioned by Metal Peterborough for Jeni Cairns’ show garden, inspired by The Green Backyard! Go Peterborough!
Underpass 1 = Finished!
The unifying theme through a lot of the artwork going up at Cowgate Underpass is water. We played with the idea that the surrounding area was reclaimed from the sea and quite possibly, due to climate change, may return there. The underpass patterns are reminiscent of fish scales, albeit very colourful fish!
Underpass project – The Ninth Legion
Jason has been out painting again, along with Stu from Blok Collective! This weeks character painting is queen Boudica and the Ninth Legion! Although only the outlines of said queen and legion are visible at the moment. Here’s one and a half days worth of progression for you to feast your eyes on.
The Massacre of the Ninth Legion took place during the revolt against Roman rule in Britain launched by Boudica, queen of the Iceni of Norfolk. Approximately 80% of the Roman soldiers were killed in the battle. It is believed that the Ninth Legion were based at Longthorpe Tower, Peterborough from about 66AD.
